madison

I've had the pure pleasure of being able to watch Madison grow, I photographed her at 1 month, 2 months, and now 3 months :) she's getting so big, and just when I thought she couldn't get any cuter...she did! :) it's fascinating how quickly babies grow, seems like Madison's been changing right in front of my lens.

today...

i've been eating a lot of apples...
and reading a lot of quotes...
and listening to a lot of Bon Iver :)

today i sat at my computer and sipped my coffee loudly! annoyingly loud so as to drown out the sound of my work yelling at me to edit!

the armors burden

a few pictures from the short story book i made about a princess who tries to rescue a knight...

beyond portraiture

I never made a decision to not blog, it just sorta got lost under the pile of things to do on my desk....

i will work on my faithfulness

I've been reading the life sucking Twilight series over the last 2 months....only moments ago I finished the four book series. The books are consuming to say the least.

I also just finished up my favorite class at Brooks so far, Beyond Potraiture with Joyce Wilson! She is a true inspiration and she awoke in me simultaneously the inner child and the inner artist. I feel liberated :)

here are some of my most recent pieces :)

There were many more pieces that i made this session but they were with film or need to be scanned in still! we played around with solarized prints, digital transfers, digital negatives, holgas processed in coffee! :) oil painted prints...we did lots of crazy fun stuff this session! :)

Tim and Kristina Wells Wedding

It was a real privilege getting to know Tim & Kristina, their love for one another is true and rare. Just being around them really made me want to be a better person. They bring a level of peace to everyone they encounter! The pictures from their day are my favorites to date. I wish them the best in love and life, and New Zealand!

I'll upload more at a later date. I'm in LA for the week and this computer is not my friend :) There's a lot more work to come...I've been photographing everyday since Friday! I'm missing my fast computer and light room right now! :)

nicks 24th birthday

My boyfriend just turned 24 today! er yesterday 2 hours ago...we had a little grill out with his infamous beer soaked brauts yesterday at a neat little nook of a park tucked in between a mountain and a beach! it blocked the wind nicely but the party still managed to find is way back to his apartment in the shelter of 4 walls and blankets :) We've learned this week with the "high winds" that not only is Santa Barbara a wimp because all the power was out...but so our its people! we're so used to perfect weather the wind blows too hard one day and we loose all power and retreat to the indoors! any way...here's some detail pictures of his day....when our friends got there...the camera got shuved in a bag and i was too busy socializing :( i think i have one bad picture of the actual birthday boy! sorry nick!

Tara and Joe Moss : out door wedding assignment

Tara and Joe rock! They've been married for 3 months now, and they got back in their wedding attire to help me out with an assignment for school. The sun was hotter today then we we've all been used too; we were drained. Yawning and in Joe's case sneezing the whole time. But as bad as we all wanted to just crawl back into bed we couldn't help but have a great time! we laughed so hard we cried! and then we ate a big dinner at some Italian restaurant in the sticks where they only accepted Cash or check! I had to remember how to write a check its been so long! Here's a peak at what we did today! Thanks again guys, you rock! :) Thanks for being pretty! :)

random memories....

Blake took this photo of me today while i was assisting his out door bridal shoot...i was just playing around. looking at it brought back all these memories from my childhood....as random as they are...i'll share some :) they may shed some light into the character you see in the picture below...and maybe provide some insights, reasons, explinations...or rather excuses as to why i am, like i am....they're pretty funny mental pictures...don't feel bad if you laugh. :)

My grandma used to dip my head under the water faucet when SHE was hot.

She would water the avocado tree and call me “Mrs. Jones“. I would talk as “Mrs. Jones” about my many children and all the chores that I had lined up for my “husband” to do when he got home.

Me and my cosins would dress up in her clothes and talk with hill billy accents and say things like “I’ma gonner go warsh the dishes ,Henry”
She would take pictures of us.

I started to direct shows. I would round up my cosins stuff them in my grandma’s clothes and we would get video taped and photographed.

I lived for the fame.

I lived in a make believe world.

Until I graduated from high school.

I used to get a quarter for using manors at the dinner table, I thought it would be a good way to make money…I didn’t make much money, and I would loose quarters on spaghetti night.

My favorite toys as a kid were scotch tape and scissors.

My grandma would put curlers in my great grandma’s hair and I would sit at the table and cut papers and scotch tape them back together, while my brother played with my grandma’s arm fat.

When we were at my mom’s house my Nana would sit at the stove (she is in a wheel chair) and cook her hot dogs on a fork before she wrapped them in a tortilla and ate them with mustard.

My Uncle Gary sang Mariah Carey at the top of his longs in his bed room.

My nana’s dog PJ died after she gave him a bath. He went outside pee’d on a tree and then died.

My mom would pluck my eye brows in the car while we waited for my brother to get out of detention. She picked at us kids like she was our gorilla mommy and we all had ticks.
